For Whom the Bell Tolls |
"It tolls for thee" |
Note: this is a heading of a 1943 movie about the Spanish revolution of 1936 –1939 in Spain with
Gary Cooper and Ingrid Bergman. |
Saint Mathews Lutheran Church in New Milford had its Bell tolled for the first time when Henri Neil Reichelt went down with the “Juneau” in the sea battle for Guadalcanal on November 14, 1942. Henri Neil Reichelt's father was the Pastor of the Church. The bell was tolled a second time for Alfred Luhmann when his Flying Fortress went down over Germany on April 1, 1944. Let us always remember the soldiers and sailors sacrifice for the “Bells Toll for Thee”. |
